The Living Room @ The Westin KL

It’s Christmas time
December 8, 2017

The air is thick with anticipation as we wait for the lighting of the Christmas Globe outside the main entrance to Westin Kuala Lumpur. Our patience is rewarded when the lights come on and everyone cheers. What a lovely sight!

Strawberry tower and red chocolate slippers
Gingerbread village to greet diners

Then it’s off to The Living Room for a taste of what will be offered for the Xmas repast.
Chefs from Prego, Five Senses and Splash came over with samplings from their respective outlets. The Living Room will offer a Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinner buffet at RM170 nett.
Forget the gingerbread house. Diners will be greeted by a whole gingerbread village, complete with a bridge, houses, strawberry tower, red chocolate slippers and all.
From Prego Italian Restaurant

Yam Puff with fresh scallops and Charcola Black Truffle Har Gow
Prego chef Ricky Parlanti makes a luscious lobster risotto, with fresh pasta in various sauces. The Five Senses Chinese restaurant has a queue for its Deepfried Crispy Yam Puff With Fresh Scallop but its trump card is its Steamed Charcoal Black Truffle Prawn Dumpling, an aromatic har gow with a difference.
From Splash, Brazilian barbecue with grilled pineapple and chicken wings

At the far side, Brazilian churrascaria Splash is set with grilled chicken wings, lamb and my favourite, grilled pineapple.
Roasted Prime Rib
Roasted Whole Turkey with vegetables

It’s Christmastime and thoughts naturally turn to the Big Bird. There it is, a perfect glistening golden brown, with grilled vegetables and whole tomato still attached to the stalk. The Roasted Prime Ribs is another favourite.
Seafood Pie in Casserole

Pies are aplenty. There’s Cottage Pie Casserole and a delicious Seafood Pie Casserole as well as Vegetable Lasagne.
Chicken cooked in Indian Spices

Chinese Butter Prawns

For those who can’t get by without hot, spicy food, claypots are filled with Ladyfinger Curry, Chicken Cooked In Indian Spices and the Malaysian favourite, Fish Head Curry. Even the Chinese Butter Prawn had lots of curry leaves to add to the aroma.
