Porco Macau Pork Chop Bun

SCRUMPTIOUS  PORCO MACAU PORKY BUNS

A whooping 200kg pork chops a week. That’s an impressive number of pork chops coming out from Porco Macau Pork Chop Buns, one of the many food stalls in 10 Hutong, Lot 10, KL.

But Autodome Head Chef Fong Phooi Yoke is unfazed. After all, the food business is nothing new for the former IT consultant who has been helping her parents run a food stall from young.

Succulent 220g of juicy meat sandwiched in a crusty baguette

Pork chops being deepfried. Can you hear that sizzle?

Each pork chop weighs about 220g and is marinated with garlic, onion, brandy, soya sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. It is put into a machine to pressure-marinated for 30 minutes and this ensures the flavours sink deep into the 2cm thick meat.It is then deepfried and sandwiched between 2 halves of a baguette.
Yup, the meat is so big, it peeks out from all around the bun. And it is the sight of this ginormous chunk of meat and the aroma that draws a long queue to wait patiently in front of the counter. What you have to do is raise your head and after making your choice from the menu hanging over the counter, pay and get a number. Then sit back and relax till your number is called. You can also order drinks (RM5.90) from here. The Macau Milk Tea and Honey Lemon Tea are delicious.
First the basic Macau Pork Chop (RM13.90). This is just pork chop and baguette. The pork chop comes complete with the bone intact as it is cut from the T-bone. The bun is just nicely crisp but don’t let it stand too long or the steam from the meat will make it soft.If baguette is not your thing, the pork chop also comes with rice (RM14.90) topped with fried egg and curry sauce or with dry-tossed wantan noodles (RM13.90).

Big fat Curry Fish Balls

Porco Macau also sells curry fish balls (RM6.90). The size of golf balls, these are springy and delicious with the curry sauce.
