Drop Bar & Lounge opened recently at The Terraces @ TREC in Jalan Tun Razak, KL. A week earlier, some 180 invited guests partied at the pre-opening launch party of the modern American restaurant and lounge.
Drop KL is opened by Hong Kong-based DJ Joel Lai, Executive Chef Tim Jay (aka TJay) and certified sommelier Alison Christ.
The interior design by architect/interior designer Tracey Stoute focuses on three different ambiences: The main Zen-inspired casual dining room with private booths, high tables and bar, an al fresco area overlooking the green of the Royal Selangor Golf Club and a soon-to-open rooftop bar.
Alison, who is also the general manager, said: “In building a global brand such as Drop, we chose Malaysia as our first overseas outlet due to its location in the region as a hub for business and leisure travellers.”

Among those spotted rubbing shoulders with TJay and Alison were members of the American Association of Malaysia, including its president Jill Nanne.
At Drop KL, customers go on a “A Journey for the Senses”, with TJay’s slow-cooked dishes, paired with a selection of biodynamic and organic wines handpicked by Alison.
TJay’s slow-food recipes have influences from Europe, Asia and Latin America. These include flatbreads with toppings such as stewed rabbit, grilled artichoke and Taleggio cheese, miso smoked duck and foie gras.
Other menu highlights include Real Deal Mac and Cheese (a creamy mainstay with five cheeses), Go Ask Alice (rabbit stew with roasted red peppers in chickpea ‘Sope’), Creole Sweet Potato Pie (seafood in sauce nantua and gratineed sweet potatoes) and Japanese Wagyu (striploin served with Yuzu pickle).
