FRESH is the
order of the festive season at Sedap Restaurant in Pullman Kuala Lumpur for the
year-end partying.
Apart from
freshly-shucked oysters, there will be poached seafood on ice, sashimi and
sushi. Indeed these counters take up a whole section and are constantly
refilled.

There are
scallops in half shells, crab, yabbies, bamboo clams and mussels with a variety
of dressings and dips. Or help yourself to wasabi and soya sauce from the
Japanese station right next to this. Here, take your pick of sashimi cuts of
salmon, tuna, smoked fish, white fish or colourful sushi rolls, wrapped in
seaweed or rolled in tobiko.

But before
this, you may want to check out the island salad bar where I spend quite a few
minutes admiring the Tomato & Mozarella Salad, Roasted Lamb Salad with
pumpkin, Prawn Salad Beef Roulade with Spinach-Pesto Sauce, Chicken pate with
grain mustard & tomato aspic and Vegetable Terrine with Parmesan Custard,
& Pickled Vegetables. The Poached Salmon with capers relish is skinned and
redecorated with slivers of kyuri to resemble scales. The fish underneath is
perfectly cooked to retain a yummilicious texture.

Don’t forget
the hot food. The bread table, with all kinds of loaves and stollen, is
tempting, especially with the soup in cauldrons but check out the rest first.

The sides of
the restaurant are laid out with Seafood Paella, Classic Crispy Duck A’la
Orange, Coffee-Crusted Lamb with Rosemary & Sundried Tomato Jus, Crushed
Butternut Pumpkin, Pizza, Honey-Glazed Brussel Sprouts with Streaky Beef while
the carving station offers Roasted Prime Ribs, Lamb Persilade with creamy
spinach and mushroom and of course, the prerequisite Roasted Turkey, with
stuffing, mashed potato and roasted potato.
Cooking
stations offer a la minute hot food. From the pasta corner, we order spaghetti
aglio olio. Tossed with sliced garlic in olive oil with lots of mushroom and
ham, this is a treat for pasta fans. Add your own dried chilli flakes to get
the right degree of heat.

If you
prefer Asian cuisine, Stirfried Tiger Prawn with Butter & Spiced Oat Flakes
is fresh and flavoursome. Have these with noodles and Braised Chinese Mushrooms
& Tau Kan (gluten) or head over to the Malay/Indian stall for Tandoori lamb,
chicken and even prawn with aloo chat and vegetarian options. The Malay-style creamy
red spinach is delicious.

Keep space
for dessert. Rudolf Mousse Cake, candy sticks, lollipops, marshmallow snowmen,
Christmas pudding with vanilla sauce, mince pies, pan-forte and tall
croquembounce of choux pastries coated with caramelised sugar. A moving
choo-choo train set on the table carries colourful lollipops.

The
cheeseboard, filled with gouda, brie, camembert, blue, goat and cheddar, also
has a charcuterie platter including smoked duck breast and various cold cuts,
crackers, fresh figs and grapes.
Pullman KLCC
is collaborating with The Salvation Army to raise funds for its residential
homes and centres that reach out to vulnerable communities of all ages.
You can
join the effort by purchasing a specially printed Christmas Elf wishing card (RM25).
Write your wish on it and either hang it on the 6m tall Christmas tree or place
it in the North Pole mailbox.
All proceeds from the sale of the wishing cards
will go to The Salvation Army.
